Egypt Looks to Boost LNG Exports Into March to Attract Investors
Egypt is aiming to increase its liquefied natural gas exports over the next five months, a stark turnaround for a country that recently become a net importer of the fuel to stave off a supply crunch at home.
The government is in talks to produce two shipments every month for loading between November and March from its Idku facility, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The move is designed to encourage foreign companies to increase investments into Egypt’s gas production, and allow them to export a portion of their share of output, the people said, declining to be identified as the matter is private.
