Amazon.com Inc. plans to hire 250,000 workers during its peak season — unchanged from the previous two years — making the online retailer a standout in an otherwise bleak holiday labor market.

The positions include full-time, part-time and seasonal roles, with temporary workers earning an average of $19 per hour, Amazon said in a statement Monday. Pay for permanent roles averages $23 per hour, the company said.
