Japan’s Finance Minister Ramps Up Warning After Yen Slumps
Japan’s Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato stepped up his jawboning of the yen after it hit a fresh eight-month low against the dollar, despite efforts by the ruling party’s new leader to calm market concerns.
“We are currently seeing one-sided and rapid movements in the market,” Kato told reporters on Friday. “The government will carefully assess any excessive or disorderly movements in the market,” he added.
