ICC Rejects Ex-Philippine President Duterte’s Bid for Interim Release
The International Criminal Court denied former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s request for interim release, in a setback for the ex-leader charged with crimes against humanity.
ICC’s pre-trial chamber “considers that the Defence’s argument that Mr Duterte should be released for humanitarian reasons must be rejected,” according to an Oct. 10 document signed by the chamber’s judges. It also ordered the continued detention of Duterte who has been at the war crimes court’s facility in The Hague since March.
