European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said institutions are observing France’s political crisis and hope a government finds a way to adopt a budget.

France’s outgoing prime minister, Sebastien Lecornu, is seeking to build agreement on a fiscal plan this week after resigning Monday in a political spat over the composition of his cabinet. The upheaval means the government will likely miss deadlines to submit a budget to parliament that is urgently needed to curb a rising debt burden.
