A Taylor Swift listening party, featuring personal reflections from the artist and music videos with lyrics from her new album The Life of a Showgirl, was the highest grossing picture in US and Canadian cinemas this weekend.

The sing-along movie, titled The Official Release Party of a Showgirl and distributed by AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., took in $34.1 million in ticket sales, the company said in a statement Monday. That compares with a median estimate of $35 million from industry tracker Boxoffice Pro.
