Italian Lawmakers Approve Conditional Recognition of Palestine

Italy’s parliament approved a motion to conditionally recognize the State of Palestine, amid protests across the country supporting an humanitarian flotilla intercepted by Israel.

The new motion recognizes Palestine, providing that Hamas releases all remaining hostages it took during its deadly Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel and agrees not to be part of any future Palestinian administration. Trump’s proposal stipulates the same conditions and Hamas on Friday said it would give its response “very soon.
