UK Man Pleading Guilty to $100 Million Wine Fraud in New York
A British man will plead guilty to US charges that he swindled nearly $100 million from investors by claiming that he held a collection of extremely rare and valuable wines.
James Wellesley, 59, is set to change his previous not-guilty plea at an Oct. 7 hearing in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, according to court records. He was originally charged in 2022 but fought extradition for years before he was sent to the US in July.
