Cooling Egypt Inflation and Stronger Pound Open Door to Rate Cut

Slowing inflation and an appreciating currency provide Egypt with the scope to squeeze in its fourth interest-rate cut of the year before a possible hike in fuel prices spurs fresh caution.

All seven economists in a Bloomberg survey predict the central bank will trim its benchmark deposit rate from 22% on Thursday. They’re divided on whether the regulator will go as far as matching the 200 basis-point reduction it delivered in late August.
