Travis Hill, the acting chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., was nominated this week by President Donald Trump to helm the key US bank regulator.

Hill joined the FDIC board as vice chairman in 2023 and previously worked as an advisor to the agency chief during Trump’s first term. He stepped in as the interim agency head in January following the resignation of Martin Gruenberg, the embattled Biden-era FDIC chair.
