Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves signaled she’s open to raising taxes on the UK’s gambling industry, setting the stage for a possible move to lift a controversial cap on benefits for parents.

“I do think there’s a case for gambling firms paying more,” Reeves told ITV News on Monday. “They make an important contribution to the economy but they should pay their fair share of taxes and we’ll make sure that that happens.”
