Jailed Former Thai PM Thaksin Makes Fresh Plea for Royal Pardon

Photographer: Valeria Mongelli/BloombergFormer Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra has submitted a petition seeking a royal pardon, just weeks after a court ordered him to serve a one-year sentence over a past conviction.
Thaksin, 76, has the same right to plead for King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s pardon as any prisoner, and the process may take several days, according to his lawyer Winyat Chatmontree. He declined to comment on whether an individual can plead for royal clemency more than once.
