Europe’s auto suppliers are calling for new rules to ensure cars built in the region use a significant share of locally made components, a bid to protect an industry under mounting pressure.
Policymakers should stimulate demand for vehicles manufactured in Europe and set minimum content requirements for European-made parts, CLEPA, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers, said Monday. While the group didn’t propose a specific target, it said such rules typically require 70% to 75% local content.
