The September jobs report, set for release next Friday, will be delayed in the event of a federal government shutdown if the Department of Labor adheres to an operational spelled out earlier this year.

The exact scope of a closure is unclear because most government agencies, including the Bureau of Labor Statistics that’s charged with compiling the monthly jobs report, have yet to publicly release more recent contingency plans should Congress fail to pass a spending bill by the end of the fiscal year on Tuesday.
