UK’s Lammy Downplays Tensions With US After Trump’s UN Tirade
UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy sought to calm concern about disagreements with the US after Donald Trump’s tirade against Britain’s approach to climate and immigration.
Trump took aim at the UK as well as a raft of other countries and the United Nations itself in his speech to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. He singled out the British government’s policies on tackling migration and shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and also described London Mayor Sadiq Khan as “terrible.”
