The White House has banned Iranians in New York for the high-level United Nations General Assembly meetings from shopping at Costco or buying luxury goods without US approval.

The State Department will require Iranians and those traveling with them for the UN’s marquee event to obtain the US government’s permission before they can shop at wholesale club stores like Costco Wholesale Corp. or Walmart Inc.’s Sam’s Club, or if they want to purchase any luxury goods, according to a document posted on the Federal Register website and marked for Tuesday publication.
