Texas A&M President Resigns After Backlash on Gender Lesson

Texas A&M University President Mark Welsh stepped down abruptly after an uproar over his handling of a viral video in which a student accused a professor of teaching “gender ideology.”
The retired Air Force general, who joined the school in late 2023, left Thursday, Chancellor Glenn Hegar and the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents said in a statement. The board plans to name an interim leader in the coming days and begin a national search for a permanent successor.
