Spanish Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo defended his country’s China diplomacy, arguing that it’s all conducted in tandem with the European Union and doesn’t risk relations with the US.

“We are, from the Spanish perspective, within the EU umbrella, and within the economic security umbrella as well,” he told Bloomberg Television in Copenhagen on Friday. “The EU needs to be at the table, we need to be a key and relevant player in all these negotiations, and that means engaging with all relevant parties.”
