How China Is Tackling ‘Involution’ as Price Wars Fuel Deflation

China’s electric-vehicle sector has become increasingly competitive amid a long-running price war. The number of brands selling battery-powered and plug-in hybrid vehicles has been whittled down from 500 to 129 in recent years. And just over a dozen of those are expected to be financially viable by the end of the decade, according to consultancy AlixPartners.

The problem? Still too many cars and not enough buyers.
