Congo’s Ebola Virus Outbreak Seen Posing Major Threat to Angola
The Democratic Republic of Congo is battling a widening Ebola outbreak, as overstretched health services raise the threat of the disease spreading beyond its borders.
The number of suspected cases have more than doubled to 68 a week after Congo declared the outbreak in the south-central Kasai region, Ngashi Ngongo, a principal adviser at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, said in an online briefing Thursday. Four of those people are in a critical condition. There have been 16 deaths.
