A string of typhoons and monsoon rains pushed the Philippines’ jobless rate to a three-year high, highlighting the economic impact of climate change to the Southeast Asian nation that’s prone to tropical cyclones.

The unemployment rate surged to 5.3% in July from 3.7% in June, the Philippine Statistics Authority said Wednesday. The latest number matches the jobless rate in August 2022.
