Indonesia plans to inject about 200 trillion rupiah ($12 billion) into the economy to help boost growth, according to its newly-appointed finance minister.

The government will take some of the 400 trillion rupiah in cash reserves that it has built up in Bank Indonesia due to past underspending, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa told lawmakers in a hearing on Wednesday. He intends to flush the money back into system by placing it with state-owned banks for them to lend.
