Turkey’s main opposition party is preparing an unusual form of resistance to a court-appointed trustee’s takeover of its Istanbul branch: moving its provincial headquarters to a different district of the city every day.
In a post on X late Monday, the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, said its building in Bahcelievler would “serve” as the new headquarters. “Istanbul has 39 districts,” the party said, implying that it could rotate its central office across the city to wear out the appointed-trustee and outpace police raids should the standoff continue, while keeping its leadership symbolically intact.
