Spain’s Saturated Power Grid Threatens Data Center Ambitions
The Spanish power grid is reaching a saturation point, limiting the Mediterranean country’s ambitions to become a European hub for data centers, an industry report showed.
More than 83% connection points in the electricity distribution network cannot handle new links, according to a report from industry group Aelec, gathering data from utilities including Iberdrola SA and Endesa SA. The data refers to connection points with more than 1 kilovolt, as requested by markets regulator CNMC.
