Short-Seller Culper Sued by Firm It Said Had Drug Cartel Ties

Short seller Culper Research was sued for defamation over a report that alleged Tecnoglass Inc., a Colombia-based manufacturer of architectural glass, had links to the founders of the Sinaloa drug cartel.

In a suit filed Tuesday in New York federal court, Tecnoglass said the report was based on fabricated documents by a “hacktivist group” and accused Culper and its founder, Christian Lamarco, of trying to destroy its market value.
