Josh Kraft’s Boston mayoral campaign faces a make-or-break test as the political novice seeks to prove he has more support from voters than indicated by recent polls.

Boston voters will get their first official chance to weigh in on mayoral candidates on Tuesday as the city hosts a preliminary election. Current Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, the first woman and person of color to be elected to the post, is facing three challengers, with Kraft the most prominent and well-funded. Community activist Domingos DaRosa and retired police officer Robert Cappucci round out the ballot.
