Philippine Senate Replaces Head as Corruption Scandal Builds

Senator Francis Escudero, who led the shelving of Duterte’s case, was replaced by Senator Vicente Sotto III as Senate president. Sotto was previously the minority leader and was among the senatorial candidates backed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the midterm elections in May.
