French far-right leader Marine Le Pen faces a retrial starting in January next year as she seeks to overturn a conviction and election ban that is standing in the way of her plans to run in the next presidential race.

Judges at the Paris court of appeals said on Monday that the hearings in a case where she was found guilty of misusing European Union funds should take place between Jan. 13 and Feb. 12. A decision in that retrial is expected a few months later, by the summer of 2026.
