US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary said the federal government has not yet started writing a report on the possible causes of autism but reaffirmed a promise that it will be released “within a month.”

The remarks, dismissing a Wall Street Journal storyBloomberg Terminal on the highly anticipated autism report, continued the Trump administration’s promises to uncover the cause of the neurodevelopmental disorder and begin taking action to address it this year. Decades of scientific studies have failed to find just one autism trigger, instead suggesting the complex condition results from the interplay of genetics and environmental influences.
