Vietnam’s government is establishing a fund to receive and manage donations to support the military and its diplomatic activities, a rare move announced just days after the nation held a grand parade in the capital.

The fund, which will be overseen by the defense ministry, is separate from the national budget and will accept contributions and sponsorship in cash and other assets from individuals, business and organizations, according to a statement on the government’s website.
