Lufthansa Pilots Threaten Strike as Pension Talks Break Down

Any labor action would revive memories of earlier walkouts that disrupted thousands of Lufthansa flights over the past decade.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s pilots union has taken the first step toward striking over pensions, raising the risk of renewed walkouts at Europe’s largest airline group.

The Vereinigung Cockpit union said negotiations over the cost of pension plans had broken down, and its board will decide in the coming days whether to call a strike ballot.
