Guyana Says Election Ballot Boxes Attacked From Venezuela

Guyanese police and soldiers were shot at by unidentified persons in Venezuela while they were escorting ballot boxes on a river along the border to a remote area for Monday’s general elections, the security forces said in a statement.

The Guyanese officials said no one was injured and the ballot boxes were safely transported to three polling stations in the disputed Essequibo Region.
