Mercedes Says Delays to EU-US Tariff Deal Are Hurting Carmakers

Photographer: Eric Thayer/BloombergMercedes-Benz Group AG Chief Technology Officer Markus Schäfer urged the US and European Union to quickly follow through on a trade deal to lower auto tariffs, saying manufacturers are being squeezed by ongoing duties.
“The situation has a serious impact,” Schäfer, who also oversees purchasing at the automaker, said in an interview near Lecce in Italy. “We hope that both parties find a resolution over the coming weeks. It’s seriously needed.”
