New York’s Hottest Fall Restaurant Is the Eighty Six From the Corner Store Team
An exclusive look at the new place in the famed Chumley’s space, coming in early September.
The menu at the Eight Six will match its congenial clubby vibe.
Source: The Eighty SixOn Sept. 9 of last year, Eugene Remm opened the Corner Store in Central Soho. Within two weeks, the lines were a block long and the customer log would come to include Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga; there’s now a nightly wait list of around 1,400.
On Sept. 9 of this year, Remm, a co-founder and partner in the Catch Hospitality Group, and partner Tilman Fertitta are opening another spot that’s all but guaranteed to cause a frenzy: The Eighty Six, on the site of the famed Chumley’s, on Bedford Street in the West Village. The restaurant will be defined by its cozy clubbiness: There will only be 12 tables and a total of 35 seats in the 950-square-foot, Rockwell Group-designed space outfitted with patterned teal velvet banquettes and burled wood walls.
