Chinese Steelmakers Show Signs of Recovery Amid Industry Shakeup

Steelmakers in China, the world’s largest producer, have seen an uptick in their fortunes as the government moves to tackle oversupply and exports of the alloy hold up despite a wave of trade curbs.

Last year, mills were mostly loss-making, as China’s ailing property market sapped a key source of demand. This year, the picture has started to improve, with losses narrowing and executives less gloomy about the outlook.
