Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appointed former Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna the country’s new ambassador to the US almost a year after members of Donald Trump’s administration demanded he remove a longtime envoy.
Zelenskiy removed Oksana Markarova from her role in a decree on Wednesday. He later thanked Markarova for her “difficult mission” in the US during his evening video address, inviting her to stay on his team and work “for Ukraine” in an unspecified role.
