Saudi Arabia’s recalibration of its huge giga projects — including delaying or downsizing some of them — will probably be viewed favourably by investors, according to a Washington-based think-tank.

“Investors would actually respond positively if the government comes out with plans of some scaling back of these projects and is then transparent going forward about the scale and the cost,” Tim Callen, visiting fellow at The Arab Gulf States Institute and who’s long researched the kingdom’s economy, said to Bloomberg Television on Monday. “Investors can then work out best what the rate of returns will be.”
