Hegseth Removes Official Whose Agency Challenged Iran Strike Assessment
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, letting go an Air Force lieutenant general who oversaw an early finding that suggested US strikes on Iran’s nuclear program weren’t as successful as the White House claimed.
A senior Defense Department official said Jeffrey Kruse would no longer serve as DIA director and offered no further details. Senator Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, confirmed he was dismissed. The Washington Post reported the firing earlier Friday.
