Vattenfall to Pick GE Vernova or Rolls-Royce for New Nuclear

Photographer: Bjorn Larsson Rosvall/AFP/Getty ImagesSweden’s Vattenfall AB narrowed its choice of suppliers for nuclear reactors to GE Vernova Inc. and a division of Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc, as it plans new units to help meet surging power demand in the decades ahead.
Both companies produce so-called small modular reactors, or SMRs, which are cheaper and quicker to build. Vattenfall has said it wants to have new nuclear facilities in operation by the middle of next decade.
