Russia Appoints First Woman Captain of Nuclear-Powered Icebreaker

Russia said it had appointed the first woman captain of a nuclear-powered icebreaker as the country marked the 80th anniversary of its atomic industry.

Marina Starovoitova is taking charge of the Yamal icebreaker, Rosatom, the national nuclear corporation, said late Wednesday after a ceremony in the Volga region city of Nizhny Novgorod.
