Northwestern Settles $130 Million Lawsuit With Ex-Football Coach
Northwestern University settled a wrongful termination lawsuit with its former football coach that stemmed from allegations of hazing, ending a painful dispute at the Big Ten school.
Pat Fitzgerald, who was seeking $130 million in damages, said in a statement Thursday that the agreement resolves his claims of breach of contract, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress against Northwestern and its president. As a player and coach, he spent more than two decades at the Evanston, Illinois-based university.
