Chile Finance Minister Mario Marcel resigned from his position on Thursday citing personal reasons, leaving the government without its most market-friendly official.

Marcel entered the presidential palace in the morning to finalize his decision, television station Canal 13 said. Chile’s peso weakened after the news of his resignation. The benchmark stock index held gains and interest-rate swaps edged higher.
