United Launch Alliance completed its first US national security mission with the newly developed Vulcan rocket, a key test of the vehicle’s ability to put satellites into high orbits above the Earth.

The mission took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 8:56 p.m. local time on Tuesday. Roughly seven hours after takeoff, Vulcan deployed the spacecraft it was carrying into orbit, according to the Space Force.
