What the EU’s Entry/Exit System Will Mean for Travelers to Europe

The European Union intends to finally roll out its new digital border control system in October, changing how it handles the entry of hundreds of millions of people who visit the bloc every year.

The introduction of the “Entry/Exit System,” which will ultimately replace the manual stamping of passports with automated registration for most travelers from outside the EU, has been pushed back several times. It was originally scheduled to start in 2022.
