Two Dead in CDC Shooting in Atlanta as Agency Says It Was Target

A shooting near the main campus of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta left a law enforcement officer and the suspected shooter dead, with the agency confirming that it was the target of the attack.

A gunman opened fire on the CDC from a nearby CVS Pharmacy at 4:50 pm local time on Friday, police officials said. The officer responding to the scene died after being rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries, they said.
