Cornyn Says FBI to Help Track Texas Democrats Who Left State

Photographer: Scott Olson/Getty ImagesSenator John Cornyn said the Federal Bureau of Investigation has agreed to assist Texas authorities in locating Democratic state lawmakers who left the state to block a vote on new congressional maps, potentially intensifying friction between Republican leaders in Texas and Democratic governors.
The Texas Republican said FBI Director Kash Patel approved his request for help identifying the lawmakers, many of whom are staying in Illinois and New York. He said the federal government should act quickly to hold the lawmakers accountable for what he described as a deliberate effort to undermine the legislative process.
