Is Brazil Too Reliant on Russian Diesel? Oil Group Looks at Risks

Even as Brazil’s oil producers won some relief after US President Donald Trump exempted the commodity from tariffs, fresh concerns are now hitting the South American nation over its reliance on Russian diesel.

That’s according to Roberto Ardenghy, head of the country’s industry lobby group IBP, which represents companies including Chevron Corp. and Petrobras. The anxiety comes after Trump said he would impose a tariff on India’s exports and a penalty for its energy purchases from Russia, the latest in a series of comments in which he expressed his anger at the lack of ceasefire in Ukraine. The move is causing other nations with ties to Russian energy to evaluate supply chains.
