The White House reiterated support for President Donald Trump’s pick to lead Wall Street’s main derivatives regulator after a delay in confirming him sparked speculation about his candidacy.

Brian Quintenz’s nomination to head the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has gained attention since a vote on his nomination was suddenly called off Monday by the Senate Agriculture Committee. A majority of that panel needs to clear him before the full Senate can approve him for the job.
