France’s Foreign Investment Screening Activity Jumped in 2024
France’s screening of foreign investments rose last year as companies seeking opportunities in sectors deemed strategic jumped to a record high.
The increase in the number of applications to 392 from 309 in 2023 is also because investors better understand changes to France’s mechanism that have broadened its scope, a finance ministry official said in a briefing with reporters about a report on the topic released Wednesday. A rise in insolvency proceedings last year in France also expanded the number of potential assets up for grabs, the official said.
