North Korea Rebuffs South’s Attempt to Ease Tensions

North Korea rejected overtures for dialogue from the new administration in Seoul, signaling that Pyongyang retains a hardline stance after the election of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, rebuked Lee for what she called “blind trust” in the US in a statement via the state-run Korean Central News Agency on Monday. Continued joint military drills show that Lee is no different from his predecessor, she wrote.
